Friends don't let friends vote Republican--NOT

A friend sent the following to me, my comments in ()

Food for thought
(Read www.iraqthemodel.blogspot.com/thought follow some of the links to other bloggers and see what the Iraqis hae to say about the war, Saddam et. Read some of the Iranian blogs and see how they are treated under the mullahs and how demonstrations are "put down" Read "a line in the sand' and see what the military in Iraq have to say. Our media is NOT telling us the truth.)

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy
made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad
guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion. (Saddam was a bad guy who raped, tortured and murdered innocent creatures of God. He had ties to terrorists. We removed huge quantities of "dirty bomb" quality uranium. Politicians choose the lesser of two evils. The extent of Saddams savagry was not fullly known.)

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with
China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony. (This policy has bi-partisan support.)

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest
national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq. (The UN seems pretty irrelevant despit the premise upon which it was built. Oil for food kept our "allies" in France and Russia in the money. Iraqis starved and died from easily treated disease because the Iraqis never benefited from this mismanaged UN boondoggle. The world might not like our policies but I support them. The war on terror is a worldwide problem. If we do not win this war, our country will be devestated. I choose to worship my Saviour as I believe. I do not want to wear a burka and be ordered about by men.Colin Powell more or less had to force Kofi A. to go to Sudan. Kosovo and Bosnis citizens were not a threat to us but we went for humanitarian reasons and remain there--this was a democrat presidents war and we had not been attacked. Kerry will pander to the Europeans be cause he is so cultured while Bush is a Texan. The vulgar filth that Edwards and Kerry laughed uproariously at Radio City shows their culture and gravitas. Kerry says this is in keeping with American and family values.)

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but
multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind
without regulation. (I think abortion and partial birth abortion are abhorrent.)

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary
Clinton. (God hates the sin and loves the sinner. I know a good many people who live a different lifestyle than mine and I do not hate them. I can accept civil unions but think marriage is between a man and a woman. Gays deserve to have their partners have all of the civil rights marriage gives to a heterosexual couple. They also should have a divorce proceeding is the union fails.)

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in
speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay. (Our troops deserve to be well paid, have all of the safety equipment that is state of the art. They should not be voted into war and then monies not voted to support them.

See Kerry's voting record.)

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex. (Parents need to do a better job of parenting so their children have some concept of appropriate behavior for their age. For those lacking parental guidance the school sex ed and the proper use of condoms may cut down on STDs, pregnancies and abortions.)

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then
demand their cooperation and money. (See oil for food above. France, Germany and Russia are not allies. They made big bucks selling Mercedes, weapons, liquor etc. despite UN sanctions and then want USA to overlook Saddams lack of conforming to 14 resolutions and not mess up their lucrative deals.)

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care
to all Americans is socialism. (Health care would not be so terribly expensive if it was not for trial lawyers who pick pathetic kids with C. palsy and blame it on the doctors. C sections have increased because of this and CP has not been lessened by this. Edwards "channeled" the feelings and thoughts of CP kids so he could tell the juries and then took 1/3 of the settlements. How did he go from being a mill workers son to multimillionaire? News reports indicate income of 26 million in 4 years before senate job. Iraqis get their health care through the Health Ministry in a government supported by Iraqi oil.)

HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at
heart. (They are in business to make money. A patient's bill of rights is a good idea and in the last hospital I worked, we had one which was part of the admission packet. We did not need big government to legislate it. See affect of law suits on medical costs. Doctors are paying big insurance fees and many are leaving the practice of medicine because they not longer make a decent income.)

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but
creationism should be taught in schools. (I do not see this in either party platform. I believe the USA was founded on judeochristian principles and they should still guide us but not dictate how individuals worship. The attacks by the far left ACLU in removing any type of religious symbol is nuts.)

A president lying about an extramarital affair is a impeachable offense. (A president who lies under oath is not my idea of a leader.)

A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is
solid defense policy. (President Bush has been accused of lying repeatedly. I do not buy this. CIA which was trashed by budget cuts and congressional interference and gave President poor intel. P. Clinton and VP Gore both said SH had WMD. Russia said SH was planning attack on US. Britain and other Euro intel still say SH was trying to buy yellow cake from Niger. At present, we have lost far fewer troops than in other wars--Vietnam+58,000 dead.)

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution,
which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet. (My thoughts on civil unions above. Means of keeping children from getting porn if they mistype a name like Mickey Mouse is the responsibility of adults. The Supreme Court is the official interpretor of constitutional law. Legislating from the bench gives federal and district courts powers they do not have.)

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George
Bush's driving record is none of our business. (Bush has admitted to misusing alcohol. SD gives one year sentence to drunk who killed a man because he was a former govenor. Sometimes people are treated with kid gloves.)

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a
conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for
your recovery. (I am not a Rush fan. I do not like name calling or someone who is never wrong in his/her prouncements. I do not like Ted Rall or Al Franken (righteous lefties) for the same reason. The democratic primaries with all of the Bush bashing totally turned me off.)

You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can
tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt. (I support the Patriot Act. This is a tool to allow our FBI and CIA to work cooperatively to locate, detain and prosecute terrorists. They only had these rights to deal with the mafia and drug dealers before the P. Act. I do not care if someone sees what books I buy or check out at the library because I am not planning to overthrow the government. I can not think of one of my civil rights that has been violated. Kerry and Edwards voted for it and now criticize it. Talk about flip-flop!)

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what
Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant. (If sexual misconduct is not important, why did the Dem in Illinois (with family ties to the newspaper) feel it was necessary to get Jack Ryan's sealed custody documents unsealed when he and his ex wife went to court to keep them sealed. Democrats want it both ways.)

Feel free to pass this on. If you don't send it to at least 10 other people, we are likely to be stuck with Bush for four more years. (I pray every night for God to grant Bush wisdom and the strength to persevere in this most difficult role. I pray that Bush is granted another four years to lead our government with the moral clarity he has shown.)

Friends don't let friends vote Republican. (As a Christian, I cannot vote for someone like Kerry. I want us to remain a democracy instead of a socialist state that worries more about world opinion than about what is right to do.)

  3. Let's face it. If you liked every agenda item of a particular party, you would be an uninformed voter. There's a few things I could do without on the republican side, but the big ticket items are my main concern. That's where the Dem's have failed. That's where they continue to get the failing grade.

I believe we have to vote republican (at least this time) if we do not want to be playing catch up on the war on terror 4 years from now. 2008, if the Dems can float someone like Zell Miller for president, they might bring me back. Might.
