A National Treasure

Today Scott Ott writes a serious, non satirical column that is a must read.
LINK

Who Is John Cox?

If you are not enthusiastic about the proposed 'conservative' candidates in the presidential primaries, I encourage you to look at John Cox. I have read his book, titled "Politic$, Inc." and he offers views that I find interesting. Perhaps the most important view I adhere to is the need for STATESMEN as opposed to politicians who make a career out of promising what is needed to be elected and then concentrating efforts on how to be re-elected instead of seeking answers to the nation's concerns. John Cox recommends seeking candidates that are successful in their working life but are willing to give a limited number of years to serving the nation and then rteturning to their previous working life. Cox has formed a national staff and committee chairman in over 25 states and volunteers in over 100 counties in three early primary/caucus states.I am hoping he begins to recieve some national attention and is able to participate in debates over issues before the primary/caucus voting.

I am tired of the entrenched politicians who have the "party machines" and money able to ensure their canadidacy. The people seem to have little choice offered and we end up voting for the lesser of evils. The past election revealed the nations discontent with Congress and opted to give new persons a chance. Unfortunately, these newly elected persons will probably fall into the trap of voting with their party so that they will have party backing for re-election. The concerns of the nation and adherence to the founding principles of our nation will be secondary.
Sen. Lieberman is a prime example of how a party treats someone who is not toeing the party line.

We need some new blood with fresh ideas at all levels of government. I am tired of politicians who view themselves as superior in intellect and personal worth to ordinary citizens. I am tired of politicians maligning the people who volunteer to serve in our military as being inferior and unable to make it in civilian life. I think we have a number of politicians who would be unable to be successful in private life.

Twelve Days of Christmas

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. Have you ever
wondered about THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS? What in the world do leaping
lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't
come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

Today, I found out. From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England
were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era
wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels
of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members
of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious
reality, which the children could remember.

The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.

Two turtledoves were the Old and New Testaments
Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.

The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke &
John.
The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of
the Old Testament.
The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.

Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy
Spirit: Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership,
and Mercy.

The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.

Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, Joy,
Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self
Control.

The ten lords a-leaping were the Ten Commandments.

The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.

The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in
The Apostles' Creed.

So there is your history for today. I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange
song became a Christmas Carol.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, President Bush is on the minds of Americans as he struggles with decisions that will have enormous consequences for our nation and other nations. He needs the wisdom of Solomon and the patience of Job as he considers all of the input of many people who love our nation and many who don't. You have been the strength and guide of former presidents facing critical times whether they openly sought your help or if the Holy Spirit interpreted their mental anguish to you. You have guided our nation since it's inception and I pray for continuing blessings and grace despite our failings. Help us as individuals to recognize that President Bush is a human with failings and virtues who was elected to serve and protect our nation. Remind us that not one of his supporters or critics has the perfect answer since we lack perfect wisdom. We rely on your perfect wisdom. Grant continuing patience and fortitude to us all. Help us recognize the results of divisive speech and loyalty to party or ideology above the wellbeing of our nation. Protect our troops as they serve in many positions in many locales. Grant strength to those Iraqis who are working for the good of their nation that the millions may soon enjoy peace and security of self rule without the horrors they experienced under a dictator and what continues with the current sectarian strife. You are the font of wisdom, the grantor of blessings and I pray you will continue to bless America and those in positions of service. I thank you for the many blessings we receive daily and especially that you have provided persons willing to serve the better good for humanity. Amen

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at 'Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."
Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

It Is Worth A Stamp

The American Civil Liberties Union is working so very hard to get rid of the

CHRISTMAS part of this holiday as it offends other's civil liberty in

enjoying the "holiday" season rather than the "Christmas" season. We should

all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little

world.

Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it.

Here's the address, just don't be rude or crude. (It's Not the Christian

Way, you know!)

ACLU

125 Broad Street

18th Floor

New York, NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they

wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So spend

39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that

there is no such thing as a "Holiday Tree". . . . It's a Christmas Tree even

in the fields!!

And pass this on to your email lists. We really want to communicate with

the ACLU! They really DESERVE us!! One card, plus a 39 cent stamp from

millions of people should get the point across!!

From an email, but I have my card ready to send!

Iraq, A Distraction from WOT??

Somebody had better inform Al Queda. They apparently believe Iraq is a good place to be and to set up their own Islamic State of Iraq and have announced the established new state.

Mohammed of Iraq the Model LINK
links to two other Iarqi blogs and one poster states, "This latest declaration is a measure of the jihadist defeat gradually playing out in Iraq: they are getting increasingly frustrated over the outcome of the Iraqi battlefield turning against them. It is a publicity stunt meant to imply that they are expanding rather than contracting. They are most definitely being beaten back as evidenced by the latest fighting in Mosul and Diyala.

Today’s declaration is good news." LINK

"It seems that al Qaeda quitted the idea of "liberating" the entire country. I guess that from now on they will be busy "defending" the newborn "State".
The declaration came when their lighting began to fade so to speak, so they came up with a move to attract some of the lost attention back; they need to once again to be in the spotlight to insure the flow of recruits and funds.

They have chosen four provinces of Sunni majority where they have few supporters adding to them Baghdad and Kirkuk where they have fewer supporters. Baghdad and Kirkuk (which has a sizable presence of Shia militias that rarely gets involved in action) will witness a fierce war between al Qaeda and the Shia militia because the militia will try their best to show that the two cities do not belong to al Qaeda." LINK

Mohammed ends his ITM post by saying, "Surrendering is much closer to them than it is to us and history will remember with pride those who sacrificed for the freedom of Iraq…
Maybe I will not live long to see that day but my children will certainly see it.

Sorry whiners, losers and pessimists. I only know to accept a challenge when I face one and I recognize only victory as an end."

I guess the reported expanding recruitment of new terrorists is not going so well for Al Queda

Experts warn U.S. is coming apart at the seams

"WASHINGTON A pipeline shuts down in Alaska. Equipment failures disrupt air travel in Los Angeles. Electricity runs short at a spy agency in Maryland.
None of these recent events resulted from a natural disaster or terrorist attack, but they may as well have, some homeland security experts say. They worry that too little attention is paid to how fast the country's basic operating systems are deteriorating.
'When I see events like these, I become concerned that we've lost focus on the core operational functionality of the nation's infrastructure and are becoming a fragile nation, which is just as bad if not worse as being an insecure nation,' said Christian Beckner, a Washington analyst who runs the respected Web site Homeland Security Watch (www.christianbeckner.com).
The American Society of Civil Engineers last year graded the nation 'D' for its overall infrastructure conditions, estimating that it would take $1.6 trillion over five years to fix the problem."

DANNY HAS A NEW HEART!

Just a quick update...

Danny received a successful heart transplant from a 30 yr. old male donor in Michigan whose heart was very strong and healthy. It was a very long, tedious surgery (8 hrs.) because Danny had had so many prior surgeries which caused adhesions, and other complications, including his damaged blood cells. His surgeon said it was one of the most difficult and complicated transplants he's ever done. Yet, the new heart "took" to Danny immediately and Danny's new re-birthday is August 8, 2006 at about 10:00 a.m.. However, because of his many complications, he is in grave danger for the next 48 hours of bleeding. Please, please, continue your prayers that he make a full, successful recovery to a healthy new life.

Also, please pray for the donor and his family. May it give them comfort to know a part of their loved one goes on living and lovingly cared for. It's poignant that the heart is symbolic of love and generosity, and the donor and his family gave the greatest gift of love anyone can give another; and a total stranger at that!

The 48 hours has now passed. Danny is breathing on his own and has a very strong pulse. Praise be to God.

What Is Wrong With This Picture?

Two border guards are convicted of shooting a drug smuggler and face up to 20 years in prison.

Eleven Egyptian "students" here on Visa for education fail to show up for class and nobody knows where they are.

Massachusetts manages to pass legislation to allow vouchers for college education of illegal aliens but FAILS
to pass a bill providing the same to our returning military.

The one Senator I could consider a statesman because he votes his conscience and seeks to work in a
by-partisan way loses the primary. I don't agree with his more liberal views, but he is honest in
expressing them and does not waffle his opinions based on polls.

The country I have lived in for seventy years is disappearing rapidly.

If You Haven't, You Should

If you haven't read "Ending the Dishonesty: The Way Forward on Border Control and Patriotic Immigration", a speech by Newt Gingrich, you should

Newt Gingrich spoke at the American Enterprise Institute in April, 2006. Although it is a fairly long read, he talks sense in regard to immigration.

"Now I am giving you this framework because I now want to talk about immigration, because the number one characteristic of immigration debate in America is how dishonest it is. And let me say — this may surprise some of you — I am very sympathetic with the illegal immigrants who were protesting. I mean, they came here because they had a clear social contract. American employers would hire them illegally. The United States government would wink and nod. And so they uprooted themselves from back home to pursue a better future, earning a bigger income. And now we’re trying to change the social contract. And we are trying to change it in a way which pretends, just as we pretend the Colombian drug dealers are at the heart of the drug problem, as opposed to American drug purchasers, we want to pretend that it is illegal workers who are at the heart of the problem rather than the illegal businesses who are hiring them and an incompetent government which is tolerating it."

An Interesting Idea

Thought you all might be interested, too! This was sent to me by an old
tax-hating associate. Cheers
**************************************************************

Paul S. Sarbanes
309 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington DC, 2051

Dear Senator Sarbanes,

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal
Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have
contacted the Immigration and Naturalization Service in an effort to
determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to
you.

My reasons for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to
illegal alien stem from the bill which was recently passed by the
Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions
is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for
five years, what I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000
fine and income taxes for three of the last five years.

I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the
process started before everyone figures it out. Simply put, those of us
who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm
excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of the last five yea rs
taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can
apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent return
for me and my family because we paidheavy taxes in 2004 and 2005 and
I estimated a gross savings approximating $72,000. After
the fine this would yield me a net savings of $70,000.

In addition, I would reap the other benefits of being an
illegal alien such as free healthcare, avoidance of paying Social
Security taxes, buying automobile insurance, serving on jury panels,
etc.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to
become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary
forms, I would be most appreciative. Thank you f or your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,

Pete M

Tancredo Responds to Latest Pence Immigration Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Chairman of the 104-member House Immigration Reform Caucus, expressed disappointment at Rep. Mike Pence’s latest iteration of his immigration plan that he announced at a press conference this morning with Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Pence has announced at least two prior versions of his immigration proposal, and this morning’s version continues to include a “guest” worker plan that does not require “guest” workers ever to leave the U.S., while at the same time it allows them to bring their families. The plan allows employers and private temporary work agencies – both of which have economic incentives to keep the flow of foreign labor coming – to determine the number of foreign workers who will be admitted into the U.S. for the first three years of the plan.

“Having employers which have already broken the law determine the number of cheap foreign workers that will be admitted into the U.S. is a classic example of the fox guarding the hen house,” said Tancredo. “I have never had a guest who, after staying awhile, demanded to move into my house permanently. No plan that allows temporary workers to stay permanently is a ‘guest’ worker plan.”

The Rule of Law Is Based on Numbers by James Atticus Bowden

"Illegal Immigration may decide if the Nation, as described in Lincolns Gettysburg Address, will die sooner rather than later. Government of the people, by the people, for the people, can only exist under the Rule of Law.
If the current Immigration laws on the books are not enforced then the Rule of Law is mocked. The Rule of Law requires a minimum number of 1 for 1 President who will enforce the borders and maintain our sovereignty against an illegal immigrant invasion."

American Contrasts

Americans travel to countries despite State Department warnings. Thousands in Lebanon are now dependent on our government to get them out of danger. Are they grateful? One young man whining about the trip to safety as poorly organized. He had to sleep on the floor of the ship and there was no food during the eight hour trip.
The inhumanity of it all. Pampered Americans require far more elegant means to get them out of the danger they were forewarned about. Sheesh!

I cannot help but compare this apparently healthy young man who was not pleased with his travel arrangements to the men and women who serve in our military. Spoiled, thankless youth depending on someone to get him to safety vs. our troops who experience heat, exhaustion, real danger and yet serve to defend us. I thank God for our brave military.

Prayers Please

I have written before about my niece's husband. He received a Jarvik device some months ago to assist in keeping him alive while waiting for a heart transplant. This morning my niece Emailed me with the following request.

"D has been in Yale for the past 6 weeks listed in critical, but stable condition. The Jarvik device is damaging his blood cells causing a critically low hematocrit level. In a normal male it's between 45-50. Danny's is 18. The hematocrit is the blood density, and the density carries oxygen to all parts of your body.

There is a donor heart in North Carolina and Danny is the on standby as the secondary recipient, if for any reason the primary recipient can't receive the heart. We've been hovering now for the past 13 hours waiting for word if Danny will receive it. They've prepped him (and starved him) since 4:30 a.m. this morning. Its been an emotional rollercoaster ride, to say the least.

The most loving and giving thing you can do for him and for us is to pray that he receives a successful transplant soon.

Thank you for your prayers and friendship."

Heather Mac Donald has written the most comprehensive article I have read regarding immigration.

Principle 1: Respect the law.
Principle 2: Protect sovereignty.
Principle 3: Support law enforcement.
Principle 4: Pay attention to facts on the ground.
Principle 5: Prefer local decision makers over remote elites."

In Mortal Danger

Tom Tancredo stands for prevention of illegal aliens invading our nation. He cites the impact on ordinary American citizens who at one time lived with unlocked doors in rural areas, who enjoyed living in Houston, who had aavailable health care in their communities or earned a living wage to support their families. He writes about multiculturism run amok when books in English are thrown out to make room for books in Spanish in the Denver Public Library System. The fallacy that there are jobs Americans won't do really translates to jobs that pay too little to suppport a family accustomed to the basic comforts Americans expect such as appropriate shelter, food, medical care and education.

This nation is made up of many immigrants and the descendents of earlier immigrants who had a real zeal for becoming American. Although these immigrants brought much of their culture with them and spoke their native tongue at home they worked to learn the common language of English and to actually become part of the American fabric. He believes, as do I, that this has led to our strength and that reasonable legal immigration will continue to nourish this nation and add value to our country.

Tancredo writes of meeting with American students who are timid in indicating they have patriotism for the USA while other students overtly express their feelings of American guilt over all of the bad this nation has done. Curriculumn has changed so much since I was in school and our young Americans are no longer taught of the birth of our nation, the motivation of our founding fathers and the struggles this nation has had to develop and maintain the rights we enjoy. There is no evidence of the progress we have made as we strive for true equality of all Americans despite ethnicity or gender.

The failure of our government, both federal and local, to enforce the current laws are responsible for the influx of illegal aliens. This illegal group is made of a variety of people. There are those who would be welcomed into our neighborhoods if they followed our laws, who would have strong families, work hard and function as previous immigrants have over our history. Unfortuneatly too many others are entering along with this group.

Most of us are aware of the group M13 and we fear Islamofacists may enter over our poorly guarded borders. I did not know that Hezbollah was in Mexico. I did not know of the groups of "unofficial" persons known as Madrinas who do whatever illegal activity pays them well. They may make money working with the Mexican government with untraceable and deniable relationship or work for the drug cartels. They may be in uniform as Mexican military and cross the border into our country. When these incursions of Mexicans in military uniform, with military weapons and vehicles are seen and reported, the Mexican government denies any military in the area. I was aware that there is much corruption in governments of all countries. I did not realize the amount in our own immigration system.

I wondered about a provision in the Senate bill that prevented sharing of information between government agencies but learned this has been longstanding. Persons currently charged with approving worker visas or application for citizenship may consider individuals who another agency has flagged as on a watch list. The person who must decide is unable to find out what another American agency such as law enforcement is concerned about. Thus many with criminal background or terrorist ties are rubberstamped and granted the visa or taken into the citizenship path.

If you have not read Representative Tancredo's book, I highly recommend it.

In Mortal Danger, written by Tom Tancredo was published in 2006

"Actually it's a compilation of selected reactions of more than a dozen (out of hundreds) people to one of the hot topics of these days which is the kidnapping of Israeli tank-gunner Gilad Shalit and the Israeli military operation in Gaza strip in the attempt to free him.

The reactions I gathered were posted on an Arabic forum on the BBC Arabic website. About three dozens of comments were made by Iraqis both inside Iraq and in exile and all these comments were supportive of Israel or at least against Hamas as far as the topic is concerned except for only three comments; that's a 10:1 ratio while as you probably have guesses, the opposite ratio is true about the comments by the rest of Arabs.
These comments and some of the non-Iraqi Arab reactions they stimulated caught my attention.
In fact Mohammed and I spent an entire day reading through the 500+ comments in that thread and thought we could share some of the best and most interesting stuff with you.

"IRAQ THE MODEL:

Protecting Americans Illegal Aliens

Government seems to continually work against Americans who are trying to safeguard our nation. The Minutemen are trying to put up barriers to prevent illegal aliens from entering US private property. That however seems to intimidate some local officials who are afraid their power is being usurped.

"In response to a plan by the Minuteman Project to construct an Israeli-style border barrier on private land near Naco, the Cochise County Planning Department is advising area ranchers that any such project must comply with county zoning rules.

In a communiqu/ issued last week, the Minutemen announced they would begin constructing an Israeli-style security fence at an Arizona ranch in early July. The anti-illegal immigration group is currently overseeing the construction of a barbed-wire range fence on the border-front property of Jack and John Ladd in Palominas. Speaking at the May 27 groundbreaking for the Ladd’s fence, Minuteman leader Chris Simcox said his group was eyeing a property 4 1/2 miles east of Naco for its next effort.

Using that information, Cochise County Supervisor Paul Newman and Planning Director Judy Anderson drafted a letter to two local property owners asking for clarification."

“We have certain zoning regulations in place, and we need to apply them consistently and fairly to everybody,” Anderson said. “So we may need to make a determination about whether this fence actually meets our exemption for fences in rural areas.”

Despite the laws currently on the books, we find that government makes policies in direct opposition to the law. Funded by taxpayer funds, illegal aliens are granted safe harbor and provided a center for day labor.

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has expanded its investigation of government sponsored incentive programs for illegal aliens by filing a “Texas Public Information Act Request” with the Houston Police Department (HPD), and another with the City of Houston. The HPD request relates to General Order 500-5, a so-called “sanctuary policy” for illegal aliens, while the City of Houston request relates to the city’s taxpayer-funded day laborer site for illegal aliens. HPD General Order 500-5, issued in 1992 by then-Police Chief Sam Nuchia, reportedly prevents Houston police officers from asking about an individual’s citizenship status or detaining illegal aliens. Meanwhile, Houston’s day laborer site, which is supported with federal funds from the Community Development Block Grant Program, reportedly provides assistance to illegal aliens seeking jobs. “Publicly-funded incentive programs for illegal aliens not only make the illegal immigration problem worse, but they are also flagrantly illegal,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It is a violation of federal law to hire an illegal alien. It is a violation of federal law to encourage an illegal alien to cross the border. It is certainly a violation of federal law for government officials to use federal funds to support illegal activity. Judicial Watch will thoroughly investigate Houston’s illegal alien policies and may take further legal action.”

Gore's Grave New World

Marc Sheppard writes an interesting opinion piece on Gore's mentor reconsidering global warming and warning look before you leap. Read the whole saga of Gore's attempts to manipulate the media to discredit a scientist who disagrees with him.

"'So, effectively, Gore's intimidation tactics over the course of the last decade and a half have achieved his desired goal through a menacing combination of politics, words and financial control.'"

An Editor I Agree With

"A survey conducted by Cornell University recently found that around half of Americans have a negative view of Islam and would like the US government to curtail the political activity of Muslims in the US. "
"...the Council on American-Islamic Relations would be launching a massive $50 million media campaign involving television, radio and newspapers as part of its five-year program to create a better understanding of Islam and Muslims in the US."

Editor's Note: Perhaps if CAIR spent that money in Islamic countries in an effort to educate the people on how it is completely unacceptable for Muslims to embrace or tolerate honor killings, the use of terror, beheadings, the proliferation of hate and intolerance toward anyone who does not embrace Islam and the notion that Islam should be the prevailing religion in the world, perhaps then the West wouldn't see their religion as barbaric and seated smack-dab in the middle of the 7th Century.

America the Beautiful

These lyrics will remain on top through July 4th and I will comment on one or more stanzas each day.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife.
Who more than self the country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for halcyon skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the enameled plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
And music-hearted sea!

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America ! America !
God shed his grace on thee
Till paths be wrought through
wilds of thought
By pilgrim foot and knee!

O beautiful for glory-tale
Of liberating strife
When once and twice,
for man's avail
Men lavished precious life !
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
The banner of the free!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!

Katharine Lee Bates - 1913

Till nobler men keep once again

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!

Dear God, I pray for the nobler men to lead our nation and may those of us who are not elected to lead offer our noble support. May we realize our need to remain truly united so that this nation will not cease being the land of the free and the home of the brave.

We Need Fewer Secrets

According to Jimmy Carter in today's WAPO. " Our government leaders have become increasingly obsessed with secrecy. Obstructionist policies and deficient practices have ensured that many important public documents and official actions remain hidden from our view."

Golly Jimmy, why might they be concerned with keeping secrets? Could it possibly be because we are at war with an insidious enemy who is determined to destroy us? Do you really think you could do a better job? The secrets that have been leaked by a press more concerned with getting a scoop than the safety of Americans seem to be the things a responsible government would do. Of course, you seem to delight in blabbing about how bad my nation is, especially when you can heap praise on governments and tyrants that suppress their people.

Why don't you keep your views secret? That would be a lot more helpful. Just stop undermining the USA and let our currently elected leaders work to keep us safe. In case you are unaware, you are no longer in a leadership position. As a leader you were not effective, now you are merely destructive.

For Heroes proved In liberating strife

O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife.
Who more than self the country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

We are so blessed to have and to have had the many who make up the military of America. Currently we have so many of our troops who willingly return for a second or third time to Iraq and Afghanistan for the 'liberating strife' needed to free millions of people from brutal regimes. The nobleness of the mission is seldom given any media attention but I do believe it is noble to free our brothers and sisters who have experienced such depraved leaders. I honor those who fought to defend our nation in wars long past to guard the freedom and liberty as I honor our current military. May God bless their efforts to allow two nations to experience democracy and liberty.

America! God mend thine every flaw

America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

Yes, we have many flaws. We have so many citizens who do not seem to care about our history. They want to eliminate God from everything since they refuse to admit that all of our freedoms and blessings flow from God. Our founding fathers knew this and it was very apparent in the America I grew up in. God was still permitted in schools and in public meetings. God was not defined as in my personal faith. We had Christian and Jewish leaders pray. Congress and the Supreme Court opened with non denominational prayer. God's presence was welcomed in so many places by so many people. We sang religious music, some of the world's greatest classics in High School chorus. Now we have allowed the WALL to separate God from His people in most areas of life. We turn our back on Him. It is a time for people of all faiths to once again call upon His name and pray for the strength and insight to choose leaders who will once again allow our religious faiths to rise up and regain the freedom to practice our faith free of restraint. It is time to recognize our total dependence on God's continuing guidance to preserve our nation and to stop the downward spiral we are currently experiencing.

A Worthwhile Search Engine

As many of you may know I am a member of a Soldier's Angels letter writing team because I support our troops and their mission. Today I came across a blog that is new to me and is written by the spouse of one of our bravest and best. She writes of an opportunity to help support agencies that support our troops. I am reposting her post below and encourage readers to try this out.

GoodSearch.com

Patti at Soldiers Angels says this is a go, so I am posting! Let's all move out and do our internet searching while helping great organizations!!!

Dear Troop Supporters,

What if your favorite Military support organization earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, now it can!

www.GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half their revenue to charities and schools. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it’s powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results.

The potential for raising considerable funds for worthy causes is huge! For example, if just 500 of an organization’s supporters searched four times a day, that organization would receive approximately $7,300 per year to help fund its mission.

Several military support organizations are listed on Goodsearch including Soldiers Angels and Operation Homefront. If your favorite organization is not listed on the site already, you can add it by clicking on the “Add a Charity” button on the Goodsearch homepage. Please be sure to check out Goodsearch on Tuesday, July 4th as we are going to be featured as the Charity of the Day!

You can read some of the press on GoodSearch in The NY Times, The Wall Street Journal, Oprah Magazine, Fortune Small Business Magazine, and many other publications at: http://www.goodsearch.com/Press.aspx

Please let the visitors to your blog know that they too can easily support your favorite organization and feel free to add the GoodSearch logo to your blog which you can find at http://www.goodsearch.com/Logo.aspx

You use GoodSearch.com like any other search engine - the site is powered by Yahoo! - but each time you do, money is generated for us. Here’s how it works:
1. Go to http://www.goodsearch.com/
2. Type (your organization) into the “I support” box and click on “verify”
3. Search the Internet just like you would with any search engine
4. Since GoodSearch shares its advertising revenue with charities and schools, every time you search the Internet at GoodSearch, you’ll be earning money for us.

GoodSearch also has a toolbar you can download from the homepage so that you can search right from the top of your browser.

You can keep track of our estimated earnings by clicking on “amount raised” once you designate us as your organization of choice. The more people who use the site, the more money we’ll earn, so please spread the word!!

A Site Worth Visiting

I get few comments so I was happy to check out this site. Michael is a Brit who writes well and has insight into the agenda of the far left. I recommend that others read his posts.

The illegal immigration issue is in many ways more pressing than the foreign policy Axis of Evil questions. After all, illegal immigration and terrorism go hand in hand; what more could a terrorist want but unsecure border?

By the way, my name is Michael, and I am the editor of Western World Politics, an un-apologetically pro-American and pro-freedom blog. We have recently moved to the new address of;

D.C. Metro to Get Spanish Signs, New Train to Mexico

By Scott Ott, Editor-in-Chief, ScrappleFace.com
News Fairly Unbalanced. We Report. You Decipher.

(2006-06-25) — Officials at the Washington D.C. Metrorail system plan to meet the needs of a growing number of undocumented commuters by installing Spanish-language signs that would direct monolingual aliens to board a new one-way train to Mexico City.

The signs, which will cost from $500,000 to $900,000 per Metro station, will tell commuters who speak only Spanish that they’re boarding a train to take them downtown, or to various D.C. suburbs.

However, about 48 hours later, the express train will make its first stop in Mexico City, and disgorge all of its passengers before making the return trip empty on a parallel track.

Although advocates of English as the national language normally protest the use of taxpayer dollars to produce Spanish signs and literature, so far no complaints have arisen about the proposal.

Yesterday

I had no internet contact on Saturday due to a cut fiberoptic cable. I used my time to read Ann Coulter's Godless.

She covers a range of topics very well with a lot of emphasis on the fallacies of global warming and evolution. While she documents well, it is her humorous commentary in the midst of serious discussion that make this so readable and enjoyable. I laughed a lot while reading. I also understand why the left criticizes her discussion of the Jersey girls. It is the only thing they can deride since they are unable to defend their stand for evolution and global warming with proof. The only thing they can criticize is that their victim spokespeople have been outed and once the public is aware of this the victims will not be as effective a tool.

Ann did not change my opinion because I share her beliefs in the main topics as well as my total agreement on her view of the currently mandated water saving toilet as opposed to the old style which she refers to as a "working toilet". I too recall the day when a single flush was sufficient to rid the bowl of liquid waste and four squares of single thickness toilet paper. How we save water when we must flush multiple times to rid the bowl of paper and sometimes solid waste is a mystery to me.

Pesky Provisions In Senate Amnesty Bill

According to Numbers USA in yesterdays email, the Senate bill contains hidden provisions that would allow
". . . virtually all women IN THE WORLD who can show that they risk bad treatment from other individuals in their own culture because of their gender would now be eligible to move to America." Can you imagine the influx of women who might ask to immigrate under this provision? All of the wives of violent husbands, all of the women held in bondage under Sharia law could claim the need to immigrate.

Also. "the Senate bill gives the same sweeping right for foreign juveniles who feel at risk of mistreatment—to gain IMMEDIATE ACCESS to the U.S. and a GREEN CARD. " Who will be responsible for these juveniles? Who will support them until they reach adulthood?

I am so thankful for the Representatives who want to take time to truly examine the Senate bill and who will take time to talk to their constituents before rushing to move this very important matter into a bill.

Oldies vs. Tacos

5 million of our older Americans have not signed up yet for their
Medicare, Part D, drug plan--they are old and confused. We are not going
to grant them an extension.

However, 12 million illegal aliens are in our
country and we are going to allow them to stay, protest, procreate,
receive support monies, attend schools, avoid paying income taxes, have our
teachers take 300 hours of ESOL (English as a second lanquage) training at
our expense, etc.

WE MUST REALLY DISLIKE OUR OLD PEOPLE!
OR, WE MUST REALLY LOVE TACOS!

Email, author unknown

Where Is The Outrage???

Where are the Human Rights groups? Why, when two Americans in uniform are tortured and killed are these organizations quiet or still harping about the care of the 'poor innocents' at Gitmo? Where is the determination of our congressional leaders to overcome those whose only purpose is to cause the death and misery of anyone who does not share their warped religious views? Zarqawi was a madman who sawed off heads and yet our military offered some medical support during his dying process. Two young Americans who were willingly serving their nation were treated so brutally. I am quite certain they would have survived panties on their heads or prolonged standing or sleep deprivation with loud music. Instead of outrage because the Geneva Convention was violated by the terrorists, we continue to hear condemnation of the USA in the treatment of people captured on the field of battle. I only wish that our two citizens had been treated with half of the compassion we show to the captured who would kill us.

What Did France Discover That the GOP Can't Grasp?

It appears that France has taken note of the lack of assimilation and problems that occur when people attempt to develop a nation within a nation. Although the French are mostly liberal, they support the initiative to determine who and when a person may immigrate. They have no anchor babies and do not guarantee an immigrants family may also immigrate. They have decided that France will identify it's needs as a nation and be selective in how these needs are met.

"The French immigration reform bill makes it more difficult for unskilled immigrants to settle in France, which in the past has created discord among French citizens who work menial jobs. The new bill, expected to be signed into law very soon, adds a number of tough measures to France's immigration policy."

"One significant provision is a requirement for immigrants to sign a contract agreeing to learn French and to respect the principles of the French Republic. In addition it makes it more difficult for them to bring their families over to join them. It also offers no provision for so-called anchor babies who are afforded citizenship as a result of being born in the country."

The New Immigration Politics

Victor Davis Hanson writes a very good article on immigration and ends it by writing: "So the immigration debate is being turned upside down. Open borders are no longer seen as liberal, but elitist and antithetical to the middle class, even as illegal aliens suddenly demand to be Americans even as they may soon be asked to match word with deed. And while we thought cheap labor from Mexico, and its attendant social and political problems, were an exclusively American worry, we are starting to see instead that the United States is playing with an explosive mixture that may soon engulf much of the Americas."

Military With First Hand Knowledge Speak About Iraq

I followed a link in the comments at Blue Star Chronicles and found a very interesting article posted at the New Con Blogger. I encourage all to read the entire post.

"Earlier this week I (a Rear Admiral) attended a retired general and flag officer conference at Fort Carson, Colorado."

"Third, the stories that are filed by reporters in the field very seldom reach the American public as written. An anecdote from Col. McMaster illustrates this dramatically. TIME magazine recently sent a reporter to spend six weeks with the 3rd ACR as they were in the battle of Tal Afar. When the battle was over, the reporter filed his story and also included close to 100 pictures that the accompanying photographer took. TIME published a cover story on the battle a week later, allegedly using the story sent in by their reporter. When the issue came out, the guts had been edited out of their reporter's story and none of the pictures he submitted were used. Instead they showed a weeping child on the cover, taken from stock photos. When the reporter questioned why his story was eviscerated, his editors in New York responded that the story and pi ctures were "too heroic". McMaster had read both and told me that the editors had completely changed the thrust and context of the material their reporter had submitted"

DEBATING U.S. IMMIGRATION POLICY - IN MEXICO

An American, legally residing in Mexico, writes about the Mexican presidential candidates and their proposed policies.

The similarities are pretty well summed up as:

1. Convince American politicians to legalize illegal immigrants who have broken US laws for the longest period of time.

2. Get The US and Canada to pay for development in Mexico.

3. Do not let any other country interfere in Mexico's internal affairs.

4. Use the Mexican consulates in the US to support the paisanos by defending them "against discrimination and the violation of their human rights."

A Safe Little Country Town

A graduating senior writes about the High School graduation and the future including travel and the potential to do great things. "Some will stay
in Franklin and settle down. starting families in the safe little country town that we all call home."

However, the front page belies the safety of our little country town."Two sentenced for rape" is one of the articles on the front page. Both men were sentenced to a minimum of 20 years with a maximum of 24 years in the NC Department of Corrections. The article further states that "both men were citizens of Mexico."

The state of NC can now support these illegal aliens for the next 20 to 24 years.

The stealth amnesty of Mike Pence

Let us hope the House remains firm and does not fall for this plan.

Why is Pence proposing capitulation at the moment Americans are looking to the Republican House as their last, best hope to kill the Senate amnesty, end the "guest-worker" scam and get control of America's borders before we lose our country?

If the House buys the Pence plan, it will be the end of Republican control of the House in November and the end of Mike Pence as a rising star of the GOP. But that will not matter. For the consequences for the country will be irremediable and infinitely worse.

Quote of the Week

"The American people expect more from the 'People's House' than joining the Senate's sellout to the cheap-labor lobby and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. If House Republicans do not answer that call to duty, we will deserve neither our citizens' respect nor their votes."

Warning

Warning: "
To the infidels of the West:

Constitution for the new Islamic Republic of EU and USA is under construction.

We will fight the infidel to death.

Meanwhile American laws will protect us.
Democrats and Leftist will support us.
UNO will legitimize us.
CAIR will incubate us.
ACLU will empower us.
Western Universities will educate us.
Mosques will shelter us
OPEC will finance us
Hollywood will love us.
Koffi Annan will pass politically correct sympathetic statement for Jihadists.

Our children will immigrate from Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Indonesia and even from India to the US and to the other Western countries. They will go to the West for education in full scholarship. America is paying and will continue to pay for our childrens educations and their upbringing in state funded Islamic schools.

We will use your welfare system. Our children will also send money home while they are preparing for Jihad.

We will take the advantage of American kindness, gullibility, and compassion. When time comes, we will stab them in the back. We will say one thing on the camera and teach another thing to our children at home. We will give subliminal messages to our children to uphold Islam at any cost. Our children in America will always care more about Islamic Countrys interest than US interest.

We will teach our children Islamic supremacy from the very childhood. We will teach them not to compromise with Infidel. Once we do that from the very early age our children wont hesitate to be martyr. We will take over the Europe first and then US will be the next. We already have a solid ground in the UK, Holland, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Germany, and now in the US.

Our children will marry Caucasian in Europe and in America. Our children will marry Caucasian in Europe and in America. We will mixed with intricate fabric of the Western society but still will remember to Jihad when time comes. Who are we?

We are the “sleeper cells”.

We will raise our children to be loyal to Islam and Mohammad only. Everything else is secondary.

At the time of the real fight we will hold our own children as our armor. When American or Israeli troops shoot at us the world will be watching. Imagine,… Imagine the news in the world “Death of Muslim babies by infidels”.

We know CNN, ABC, CBS are broadcasting live. Al-Jazeera will pour gasoline on the fire. The news will spread like wildfire. “Americans killed 6 babies, 10 babies”. “Jews killed two women”,

Keep your Nukes in your curio cabinets. Keep your aircraft carrier or hightech weaponery in the showcase. You can't use them against us because of your own higher moral standard. We will take the advantage of your higher moral standard and use it against you. We won’t hesitate to use our children as suicide bomber against you.

Visualize the news flash all over the world, …Moslem mother is sobbing, ….crying. ….Her babies are killed by Jews and Americans, the whole world is watching live. Hundreds of millions of Muslims all around the world are boiling. They will march through Europe. We will use our women to produce more babies who will in turn be used as armor/shield. Our babies are the gift from Allah for Jihad.

West manufactures their tanks in the factory. We will manufacture our military force by natural means, by producing more babies. That is the way it is cheaper.

You infidels at this site cannot defeat us. We are 1.2 billion. We will double again. Do you have enough bullets to kill us?

On the camera:

We will always say, “Islam is the religion of Peace.”

We will say, “Jihad is actually inner Jihad.”

Moderate Muslim will say there is no link between Islam and Terrorism and the West will believe it because the West is so gullible.

Moderate Muslim all over the world will incubate Jihadist by their talk by defending Islam.

Using Western Legal system we will assert our Sharia Laws, slowly but surely.

We will increase in number. We will double again.

You will be impressed when you meet a moderate Muslim personally. As your next-door neighbor, coworker, student, teacher, engineer, professionals you may even like us. You will find us well mannered, polite, humble that will make you say, “wow, Muslims are good and peaceful people”, But, we will stab you in your back when you are sleeping as we did on 911.

There will be more 911 in Europe and in America. We will say, “We do not support terrorism but America got what it deserved.”

Muslims, CAIR, ISNA, MPAC and other international Islamic Organization will unite. We will partner with Leftist, ACLU, with Koffi Annan, and the UN, and if we have to then even with France. Fasten your seatbelt. The war of civilizations has just begun.

We will recite Quran and say Allah-Hu-Akbar before beheading infidels, as we have been doing it. We will video tape those and send it to all infidels to watch. They will surrender - ISLAM means surrender.

We will use your own values of kindness against you.

You are destined to loose.

Must be very depressing for you. Isn’t it?

Allah-Hu-Akbar

as we say just before beheading.

21st Century Islamic Warfare

Let's see the effectiveness of Islamic warfare.
Muslims Vs. the West.

THE RULE HAS CHANGED. There is new game in town.

Bill Clinton ordered 50 Tomahawks Cruise missiles costing $100,000,000 each to destroy $50 mud houses that belonged to Osama's family. What a stupidity? What a poor ROI (Return On Investment)

In return Osama's attack on the US.
Cost: 19 martyrs and less than $500,000.
Cost to the West: over 3,000 dead.

At least $1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion) dollars economical loss in one year. This includes the ripple effect.

Osama's ROI with respect to: life = 3,000/19 = 158 fold.
Dollar = $1 tr./500K = 2,000,000 fold

That is modern warfare. The West will loose.

Allah-Hu-Akbar.
Islam will rule the world. There is nothing you can do. Even if the per capita GDP of the world drops to half of its present level as a consequence of Islamic laws in place all over the world but still Islam will rule the word.

From your point of view we bring to the world to the dark ages, so be it. But still Islam wins, West looses.

Are you sure you want to play this game?

Jihad, ..Jihad...Jeeehaaad...

You are destined to loose.

Allah-hu-Akbar

Saudi Arabia's $100 billion investment over the last 3 decades on over 60 thousands Madrassas and school all over the Islamic world is finally paying off. While the West was busy inventing medicine, increasing life expectancy, elevating human suffering, decoding human gene to find cure for Cancer, heart disease etc, launching space shuttle, inventing internet, working on new laws/theory for human rights, developing better economical models for a more prosperous world, while ACLU was gaining control over common sense, while American ingenuity was benefiting the rest of the world, we Muslims were busy producing over 200 million out of 1.4 billion, Walking, Talking, Non-Thinking, West-Hating, Pre-Programmed, Suicidal, Parasitic, Terrorist Robots. You can't win. The Genie is out of the bottle.

We will use American’s kindness, fairness, compassion, freedom of speech and non-discriminatory policy against them. We will stab them in the back.

What are you going to do? You are doomed.

A Myth of Jobs Americans Won't Do

It seems to me that we need to identify the Americans who are looking for work, both unskilled and skilled such as craftsmen who have experience and desire to work and support their families. It would appear that illegal aliens, willing to work for less than established wages are displacing our own citizens. Much has been said that those who oppose full citizenship (for persons entering our nation illegally) are bigots and racists. We have worked for years to provide civil rights to a segment of our population that lived for years with discrimination. We are trying to measure Americans by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. We have not as yet attained this fully, but we are trying. Now it seems many are willing to downplay the contribution of a group of Americans so that we may show compassion for the downtrodden from another nation. Let us continue to fight for the civil rights of Americans first. Then if we need to import workers on a temporary basis, the laws and procedures may be developed. In fairness to all who wish to become Americans from all over the world, our current lawful immigration process should be followed.

ABC News/Christian Science Monitor
From where Johnny Blair Vaughn sits outside Lucy Florence Coffee House in the heart of Los Angeles's black community, he can feel the temperature rising over immigration. The biggest reason, says the father of seven, is jobs. 'If you drive across this city, you will see 99 percent of all construction is being done by HispanicsYou will see no African-American males on these sites, and that is a big change,' says Mr. Vaughn, who has worked in construction for two decades. His two oldest boys, in their early 20s, have been turned down so many times for jobs - as framers, roofers, cement layers - that they no longer apply, he says. While Los Angeles is ground zero for black-Hispanic friction these days, echoes of Vaughn's words are rising throughout urban black America as Congress labors over immigration reform. In cities where almost half of the young black men are unemployed, a debate is raging over whether Latinos - undocumented and not - are elbowing aside blacks for jobs in stores, restaurants, hotels, manufacturing plants, and elsewhere."

Birthright sale

Thomas Sowell again points out the ridiculous nature of the Senate bill on immigration reform. He highlights the laws currently in place and unenforced, the projection of growth of over 100 million beyond the 12 million being bandied about, and the fact that Mexico is really in charge of our border control via Senator Spector's last minute insertion of the need to consult Mexico before any fence can be built.

CODES OF CONDUCT

I support our military and believe that they follow the code of conduct and rules of engagement with rare exception. I am sorry to learn that charges have been filed against several for the killing of an innocent person. Investigations are being done and reported as being very thorough. As sad as this is, the American people and the world expects honorable behavior from our troops. I have never been in the military so can only try to imagine the feelings of our troops when living under constant threat when they are away from their base. I would like to think I would follow the code, but in actuality I cannot state that my emotions would remain under perfect control. We learn of charges filed against some individuals. Trials will occur, judgments made and penalties determined for those found guilty.

The press will continue to tell and retell the stories and persons such as Rep. Murtha will continue to use the incidents to further his talking points to disparage the military efforts in Iraq. Those who are so quick to judge the failure of the military in these rare instances, appear to have total disinterest into why so many persons in power in both Democratic and Republican administrations have failed in their duties to enforce the laws of our land pertaining to securing our borders and identifying illegal aliens and deporting them. WHEN WILL THEY BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE?

I read about the failure of ICE, catch and release, sanctuary cities, failure to deport illegal aliens after being found guilty of felonies, granting green cards with a rubber stamp approach, and the apparent acceptance of ignoring our laws. Those in a position to identify these crimes against our nation and to insist our laws cannot be reinterpreted and ignored by whomever is administering the agencies supported by taxpayers are silent. I read of the new "wall" in the Senate immigration bill to forbid sharing of information between those who would do background checks and other government agencies who by law have authority to act on this information.

Much ado in congress about the warrant and subsequent search of Rep. Jefferson's office. How dare the FBI and a Federal Judge act after months of ignored subpoenas.
This has so stirred politicians in both parties that President Bush had to order the files sealed for 45 days to give the congressional critters a time to settle down. The immediate reaction to the violation of the sanctity of a congressional office is so great that talk of impeachment of the Attorney General and the Federal Judge has been raised.

Now, think again of the environment our troops are in. In Haditha, Marines saw one of their comrades cut in two by an IED. The remaining facts are yet to be made public. Did some of them go ballistic? We will find out in time. They have been tried by some already in the media and will face trial by the Military court. They will be held to the code of conduct. I am again assured about the integrity of the military in that they are investigating, determining the facts and following through to see that justice is done if innocents were targeted and killed. I have greater empathy for the troops how may have temporarily lost their self control and acted improperly than I do for those in public office who swear the same oath to protect and defend the Constitution and support the CODE OF CONDUCT (American Law). When will investigations be made, when will the public servants be called to account as we so quickly do with our military.

The argument will be that innocents were killed. I believe there are many innocents in our nation who also have been murdered and raped because of lax attention to the screening and deportation of illegal aliens? How many American youth have become addicted to the heroin and methamphetamine brought in over the border. I ask of those in power, when will the investigations begin and WHEN WILL THEY BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE?

Do We Need A New National Party?

I remain an Independent voter with strong fiscal conservative views. I believe in States Rights, parental rights and even more importantly in individual rights. This nation has survived since its inception as one nation under God. The views of a few atheists and that of the ACLU should not be allowed to change the character of the nation. I support the constructionist view of our constitution. I do not feel I qualify as a far right wing nut or far left moonbat (terms in common use although I find them demeaning).

Democrats seem to feel that the low polls regarding congressional performance is the sole fault of the Republicans. The media repeat the refrain that because the Republicans have the majority in both houses the public will and should turn out the Republicans up for election in November.

As an Independent, I will vote for the person I feel best meets our nations needs despite party affiliation. I would like to go on record and state that congress rates pretty poorly because of the overt partisanship that has led to no progress on Social Security reform, no progress straightening out the ridiculously complex tax code which is full of loopholes for the wealthy. The blocking of cloture allowing nominees for open judgeships is disgraceful. It is those who block any meaningful debate to improve the well being of the nation who disgust me. Congress earns generous salaries, has a superb retirement package and live a life full of perks at the taxpayer expense. For the generosity of the taxpayers, I think it is fair to expect them to tend to the nation's business and forget the pandering to party lines. I keep looking for a statesman/stateswoman from either party.

President Bush is not perfect. He has a difficult job and has tried to protect our nation. The constant criticism of past events is rehashed and rehashed ad nauseum.
Criticism without an effective alternative plan does nothing but demoralize the citizens. Negative portrayal of our volunteer military forces really angers me. The blocking of ROTC and military recruiters is unacceptable. These men and women respond to whatever orders they are given. Many are in active areas of conflict and many become involved in humanitarian aid when disaster strikes. The military rate much higher in my esteem than the politicians of either major party.

Perhaps we do need a third party as Peggy Noonan suggests in her article

Human papillomavirus (HPV)

I realize I am an older woman who grew up in a time when premarital sex was less common. Sexual mores have changed greatly and and it is not my purpose to pass judgement on others. I am disturbed however every time I hear the rather giddy commercial on TV announcing that cervical cancer is caused by a virus (HPV) and that a vaccine is now available. This cause has been known for years, it is the vaccine that is new information. The thing that disturbs me is the lack of any information regarding the manner in which HPV is transmitted.

"Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in the world, occurring at some point in up to 75% of sexually active women (Groopman 1999). Although HPV infection is widespread, few people even know they are infected because they seldom have noticeable symptoms."

It is estimated that for every 1 million women infected, 10% (about 100,000) will develop precancerous changes in their cervical tissue (dysplasia). Of these, about 8% (8,000 women) will develop early cancer limited to the outer layers of the cervical cells (carcinoma in situ [CIS]) and roughly 1,600 will develop invasive cancer unless the precancerous lesions and CIS are detected and treated.

LINK

If you listen to the recoommendation for administering the vaccine, it is advised to be given before a girl becomes sexually active. It seems to me that this is something young girls need to be told. There is so much in magazines and entertainment media that repeatedly tells young girls that sex is a recreational activity. It is treated so casually that very young girls become involved before they realize the dangers of STD's. Pregnancy is no longer a major fear because abortion is easy to obtain and the psychological and physical ramifications are rarely mentioned.

"Like many STIs, genital HPV infections often do not have signs and symptoms that can be seen or felt. One study sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) reported that almost half of women infected with HPV had no obvious symptoms. If you are infected but have no symptoms, you can still spread HPV to your sexual partner and/or develop complications from the virus."

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common causes of sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the world. More than 100 different types of HPV exist, most of which are harmless. About 30 types are spread through sexual contact. Some types of HPV cause genital warts—single or multiple bumps that appear in the genital areas of men and women including the vagina, cervix, vulva (area outside of the vagina), penis, and rectum. Many people infected with HPV have no symptoms.

There are high-risk and low-risk types of HPV. High-risk HPV may cause abnormal Pap smear results, and could lead to cancers of the cervix, vulva, vagina, anus, or penis. Low-risk HPV also may cause abnormal Pap results or genital warts.

The only way you can prevent getting an HPV infection is to avoid direct contact with the virus, which is transmitted by skin-to-skin contact. If you or your sexual partner has warts that are visible in the genital area, you should avoid any sexual contact until the warts are treated.

Research studies have not confirmed that male latex condoms prevent transmission of HPV, but studies do suggest that using condoms may reduce your risk of developing diseases linked to HPV, such as genital warts and cervical cancer. Unfortunately, many people who don’t have symptoms don’t know that they can spread the virus to an uninfected partner.

My Ideas On A Comprehensive Immigration Bill

Remarks by President Bush in the East room on January 7, 2004.

"I propose a new temporary worker program that will match willing foreign workers with willing American employers, when no Americans can be found to fill the jobs. This program will offer legal status, as temporary workers, to the millions of undocumented men and women now employed in the United States, and to those in foreign countries who seek to participate in the program and have been offered employment here. This new system should be clear and efficient, so employers are able to find workers quickly and simply.

All who participate in the temporary worker program must have a job, or, if not living in the United States, a job offer. The legal status granted by this program will last three years and will be renewable -- but it will have an end. Participants who do not remain employed, who do not follow the rules of the program, or who break the law will not be eligible for continued participation and will be required to return to their home."

When did this vision mutate into a path to citizenship?

I must admit to being confused as to how such a simple proposal morphed into the amnesty bill passed by the Senate. In re-reading President Bush's remarks once again, it appears to make sense. The first prioity of strengthening our borders must be achieved. Then the documentation of the illegal workers currently present within our borders can be accomplished not as an automatic path to citizenship but as temporary workers. After three years, those who have abided by our laws, paid their taxes and have been investigated and found not to have used fraudulent documents, stolen identity or been convicted of other felonies may apply for an extension of guest worker status. They would be free at any time to return to their home country and begin the application process followed by everyone else to begin the path to citizenship. They would be able to re-enter the USA with their current biometric card. If this were enacted, we would learn who is here within our borders. Any illegal alien who does not come forward and register within a predetermined timeframe will be ineligible to work or receive any public benefits with the exception of emergency care for life threatening illness. Any alien who does not apply for guest worker status will be deported upon discovery of their illegal presence. The needs of small and big business will be met. Laws requiring prevailing wages and workers insurance will be mandated for all employers. ICE will only have to repond when local law enforcement finds undocumented people. Catch and release will cease.

Biometric cards will replace current legal documents such as green cards and student, non worker visas These cards will be required for employment and for enrolling dependent children (along with the child's birth certificate to authenicate parentage) in our schools. The biometric card will be required by landlords to verify legality. Temporary lodging such as hotels and motels shall have the right to request the biometric card without threat of lawsuit. Babies born to any alien who is not currently on a citizenship path will not be granted citizenship. Driver's licenses can be granted for any documented worker once they have passed the written and road test and have the state mandated insurance. Driver's licenses can be granted for any documented worker once they have passed the written and road test and have the state mandated insurance. Such driver's license would indicate guest status so it cannot be used for voting ID.

This would be humane in that the current illegal aliens would have an opportunity to apply for citizenship through the regular channels and at the back of the line. This is fair to those who are currently waiting and following our laws and procedures. A valid guest worker biometric card would allow persons to return home in the event of faamily emergency, on vacation etc. and allow them to re-enter and return to their jobs. It would also allow our nation to maintain control of the number of immigrants who eventually become citizens. It would discourage aliens from entering without documents or remaining with outdated documents since they will not be able to find work and will be deported upon discovery with minimal legal procedures. Illegal presence mandating deportation will invalidate any request for guest worker status or application for citizenship. The biometrics of such illegals who are deported will be on file and cross checked for all aliens applying for entry visa, work permit or path to citizenship. Once enacted and the potential illegal immigrants are informed, I believe fewer persons will be tempted to enter illegally or overstay with outdated documents.

Persons applying for citizenship, along with dependent family members, will be counted against the legal number of immigrants on the citizenship path. Dependent children of persons on the citizenship path will be required to file application for citizenship. Those with jobs or in school fulltime who meet all requirements will be placed on a path to citizenship if they have clean records. Only under age children and dependent parents will be allowed. All other family will need to apply for themselves without preference.
