Kerry At NAACP

My the promises! " Middle class tax cuts. Affordable health care for all. Great teachers in every classroom. Freedom from dependence on ME oil. Double the amount of money we spend on fighting AIDS--the greatest moral obligation of our time. Jobs, childrens future, Supreme Court is on the line. Our relation with the world is on the line. We will make sure every vote is counted. We must vigorously enforce our voting rights -- 57,000 votes not counted in Palm Beach County. We will have teams of lawyers monitor elections and we will enforce the law. When I was in Vietnam...we came together as one...we were a band of brothers"
I especially noted the praise for Julian Bond, his comments that the president could arrange his schedule to be here, that "faith without works" is meaningless.
My view is that these are a lot of promises that would be lovely if they were feasible. Hillary said in California that the tax cuts would be taken from us and here Kerry is promising more. I didn't realize we had the right to tax the top 2% to such an extent that they could pay for all of his plans. How reassuring that lawyers will be monitoring the voting process--I'm sure that will resound throughout America and make us all feel better.
Kerry's willingness to champion all who bash President Bush be it Whoopi or Julian makes it hard to swallow when he claims to be the great uniter. This is not the leader I want!
