  1. I was watching the NewsHour coverage of the democratic nat'l convention where a regular commentator from the NYTimes said that Teresa dropped the ball in her speech by not talking about their family life or more personal examples of who John Kerry really is. I was thinking how, unlike Mr. and Mrs. Edwards who seem to have a rosy and warm relationship at home, Mr. and Mrs. Kerry might have a more grown-up, realistic and less than perfect, but not atypical marriage without argumentation and disagreement. As to what Mrs. Kerry could've said, who knows? Barbara Walters talked to her in a 20/20 interview a while back asking whether their relationship was a good one. She answered by saying that they both entered the relationship not inexperienced, it being a second marriage for both of them. She said that they were more realistic in their expectations, but then in some ways expecting more. I can't quite relate, not having been in their situation, but if you want, the video is here at the Kerry-Edwards site. Don't worry, it's a direct link to that video :)

PS- In the video she also mentions how originally she didn't think she wasn't comfortable with her husband running for the presidency and Kerry ultimately waiting for her ok before announcing his candidacy. In an interview with Mrs. Bush, she said that althought she and her husband don't agree on every political issue, including abortion, that doesn't (of course) comes in the way of her complete support for her husband. It would seem that they don't discuss it much over the dinner table. These are two separate anecdotes about the two potential first ladies, but it gives you a small window into their married lives.
