My Response to MoveOn PAC

MoveOn PAC: "YOUR PETITION LETTER

TO: President Bush; Ken Mehlman, Campaign Manager of the Bush/Cheney '04 Campaign; and Ed Gillespie, Chairman of the Republican National Committee
FROM: (Your Name and Email)
SUBJECT: Stop Voter Suppression
__________

Dear President Bush, Ken Mehlman, and Ed Gillespie:
(Your personal note)
Recent accounts of voter suppression targeting African-American and other minorities are troubling. The role of Republican elected officials and campaign staff in many of these incidents is totally inappropriate.
Stopping eligible voters from voting is a basic affront to democracy. It undermines the basic principles of our electoral system and calls into question the legitimacy of our elections.
I urge you to publicly disavow all forms of voter suppression, including voter intimidation, misinformation, purges of voter roles that disenfranchise qualified voters, the threat to discount provisional ballots, and other actions that undermine the rights of qualified Americans to vote, and to publicly condemn voter suppression activity by your staff and volunteers.
Sincerely, "

My response:

I urge you to publicly disavow all forms of SBVT suppression, including SBVT intimidation, misinformation, purges of SBVT ads that prevent qualified voters viewing, the threat to squelch free speech, and other actions that undermine the rights of qualified Americans to choose, and to publicly condemn any information suppression activity by your staff and volunteers.

Sincerely,

Patricia G., Senior Citizen, Independent Sentient Voter and Contributor to SBVT

Great response! My mom got a Kerry/Edwards picture in the mail yesterday - she laughed and said she was going to give it to me as a Christmas present. I told her I would settle for coal in my stocking. NYC is going to be a scary place for the next week. I pray for the safety of regular, NORMAL people and hope America wakes up and realizes if we let John Kerry win - THESE PEOPLE will be in charge of protecting America. No thank you.

  4. Pat...I agree with you. These guys should be heard. they have a right to say it and a right to say it publicly. If it was slanderous or libel, someone would sue. He has the trial lawyers in his pocket (kerry) so it's not a question of representation. I think the issue here is that they will have a hard time proving slander or libel. Instead, they try to go in the back door and intimidate. That tells you the nature of the people involved. They can't prove anything against these guys.

Therefore, what they have to say is important. Frankly, knowing what kerry did after Vietnam makes what he did IN vietnam is suspect. That's my take on it. I think the guy was anti war for awhile and would have avoided service if possible. However, as I've pointed out to some folks, after he finished his studies, he still would have had to go to into the military. He really had no choice. That's the reality. He served. That's a reality. He didn't like it. That's a reality. He came back and smeared his fellow soldiers and the reputation of the United States just like the people he aligns himself with now. That's the reality.

He can never have my vote. That's a reality.
