A group of Iraqi citizens in Al Karkh/ Khidr Al Yas arrested 6 Syrian terrorists after placing a land mine at the gate of Bab Al Mua dam bridge from Al Karkh side.
According to New Sabah newspaper, after a road side bomb exploded missing an American convoy that was patrolling in the area, a group of citizens who happened to be there noticed a bunch of young men who looked foreigners (turned out to be Syrians) that were gathering near the place and that looked suspicious. The citizens found their atittude very suspicious and they were not from the area, so they jumped on them and kicked them until some of them started to bleed and then turned them on to the American forces. Eyewitnesses said that the citizens were shouting "Terrorists. You are targeting our children and families. You are killing our youths"
This incident that took place near Haifa street comes after many attacks that terrorist Arabs were accused of carrying against American forces and Iraqi police stations."

Dear Pat,
ReplyDeleteWOW! The Iraqis have been through so much, I am glad to hear they are finally starting to fight back! Haifa Street is a bad place to be these days. I am very proud of them, and our soldiers that took the terrorists from them. Thank God.
Hugs

ReplyDeletePat,
I just noticed that you are from Franklin. I hope you came out of the storms safe. My family is having our Holden Family Reunion in Culowhee this weekend. I went up and checked on the picnic shelter last weekend, and it is awful! The shelter is right beside Cullowhee Creek and it flooded. We have a lot of work to do on Saturday, before Sunday's reunion. Most of the family doesn't live there so that is the reason for waiting until Saturday. I have heard that some of the roads are reopened. I know that they were diverting traffic off of 107 up Old Cullowhee Mountain Road. Boy that is the long way around, and it looks like I will be seeing an awful lot of traffic this weekend since that is the road that we have the reunion on (at Fall Cliff). I am not used to the traffic on that road, so I know it won't be as peaceful as it normally is. We are hoping to get the shelter cleaned up early on Saturday ( it will happen if we can get a bobcat to move the trees and sand with), so we can attend Mountain Heritage Day during the day and go to Darnell Farms in the evening for some good mountain music. Again I hope you weathered the storm well. I will be seeing our lovely mountains this weekend, if the creek don't rise!
Sincerely
Wanda Evans
