Dayton closes Senate office in D.C. amid security concerns

October 13, 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. Mark Dayton abruptly closed his Washington, D.C., office Tuesday and advised Minnesotans to stay away from Capitol Hill until Election Day, citing the threat of terrorism."

Erich Mische, chief of staff to Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., said Dayton's decision is "the wrong message to send to terrorists, that we're going to kind of vacate the premises."

I cannot help but wonder if this is a typical Democrat response to cut and run while the Republican senator stands his ground. Minnesotan's must be proud of Dayton.
