PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER--Day 10

Heavenly Father,

I come to you today to pray for the people of Afghanistan and Iraq. The majority of these, your people, hold differing beliefs than mine. I know, that this does not make them less valued in your sight. I believe you care for each of us and that as you know the sparrow, you also know us.

Lord, these people have lived under the most rigid rules in hopes of pleasing you. Leaders have perverted your love as a means to keep these people in bondage. I cannot believe brutality in the name of Allah is pleasing in your sight. Bless those who struggle to become free, independent nations with the blessings I believe you want all of us to have.

As our election nears, I pray that we elect leaders who share the belief that liberty is not just a gift bestowed upon Western countries. May these leaders understand that we all have a responsibility to assist the least of these who live in inhumane tyranny. Lord, there are so many areas in the world where there is a need for others more fortunate to intervene on their behalf. My prayer is not to negate other areas in the world, but to highlight those countries where we are currently involved. Much suffering of people, innocent of harming others, has already occurred in those lands. Our military is present and we have an opportunity to assist them so long as we stay the course until they are totally self governed and have sufficient security to prevent falling under the rule of another tyrant. Lord I plead their cause.

Give our elected leaders wisdom to see that although the road is difficult, it will ultimately benefit the entire world. May our President elected next month pursue the goals that are correct in your sight and work with others who are willing to help.
May we ignore those who would be stumbling blocks to doing what is right. May our leaders look to you for guidance as they make decisions which effect the lives of so many in the world. Grant that those with the responsibility of safeguarding our nation the tools and the will to identify threats to our safety before they materialize.

Renew a spirit of cooperation in our nation. Cleanse us of hate and negativity that we may come together as a people and support our elected leaders. Let us as a people return to the roots of our constitution. May we recognize that as we have been blessed we need to share those blessings not only in our nation but throughout your world.

I ask this, while giving thanks for my many blessings, in Jesus name.

Amen
